Baldurs Gate action.

Baldur's Gate action.

My gaming background is pretty mixed. I started taking it seriously with the Sega Megadrive RPG titles such as Shining in the Darkness and Sword of Vermillion. Later came isometric PC RPGs like Baldur’s Gate and Planescape Torment. Some of these games remain favorites to this day.

However, my whole fascination for storyline and depth was cast aside when online gaming took off. Suddenly you were cast into a world with far fewer restrictions. Interracting with other gamers added a whole new dimension that was like crack to me.

More recently I pre-ordered Warhammer Online, on reccomendation from members of my Guild. Let’s face it, I’m going to value the opinion of people I have played with for years more than any post-release review.

My guild is mostly PvP oriented, and has bounced between a few titles over the years. Starting originally in Dark Age of Camelot, then moving to Guild Wars for the instanced arena PvP, and now a promenant beta guild for WAR.

Here’s hoping it can take a slice of that World of Warcraft pie. Not that I dislike WoW or feel it doesn’t deserve it’s status, but come on guys; its evil reign of terror has to come to an end soon.
