Visual Recognition
11Sep08

Quick entry to note two recent MMO developments that impressed me:
First of all, the new player signature feature for Lord of the Rings Online. Late coming, but better than never.
Secondly, and even more impressively, Warhammer Onlines fully working armory style system. I am very pleasantly surprised to see Mythic putting in the elbow grease to get something like this working in beta, and not just slating it for a later date. That said, they had Sanya’s marvelous work on the Camelot Herald as a starting point.
It’s great to see developers spending time on tools like these. Out-of-game methods of visual recognition do wonders for an MMO community, and I hope they expand on this further.
More on that later.
